CTOnews.com Amazon is launching its second AWS Cloud Services Region in India, headquartered in Hyderabad. According to the e-commerce company, the new data center will support 48000 external full-time jobs annually due to an investment of $4.4 billion by 2030. With the addition of the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region, customers will be able to run workloads with higher resiliency and lower latency.

Prasad Kalyanaraman, vice president of Amazon AWS Infrastructure services, said,"The launch of the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region supports India's digital transformation and is part of our long-term investment in the country since opening our first office in 2011. Customers and partners in India will now have additional regional infrastructure to deploy applications with greater resiliency, availability and lower latency. We are proud to invest in the future of India's technology community and workforce, and we are committed to helping organizations across industries improve agility and drive innovation. "

CTOnews.com has learned that with the addition of this region, Amazon AWS is now available in 96 availability regions and 30 geographic regions. Amazon's most recent addition to the region is the AWS Region in Zurich, which will support 2500 full-time jobs for businesses outside the country. The investment in Switzerland is $5.9 billion (about 42.126 billion yuan), which is larger than the investment in Hyderabad, but it will continue to invest until 2036.

With news of layoffs at tech companies, Amazon's investment in its AWS data center could give the economy a much-needed boost.
