In his speech, Lei Jun mentioned that Xiaomi invested 13.2 billion yuan in research and development in 2021 and is expected to invest 17 billion yuan in 2022. At the same time, Lei Jun said that Xiaomi's R & D expenditure will exceed 100 billion in the next five years (2022-2026).

It is worth mentioning that Lei Jun said at a press conference at the end of last year that Xiaomi's five-year R & D plan two years ago was to invest 50 billion yuan. But in fact, in the past two years, Xiaomi has invested more than 22 billion yuan in R & D and more than 16000 engineers. But this is far from enough. Xiaomi will update its R & D plan and increase its R & D investment to 100 billion in the next five years.
