By the end of June 2022, the number of new energy vehicles nationwide had reached 10.01 million, accounting for 3.23 percent of the total, an increase of 27.80 percent compared with the end of 2021, according to the Ministry of Public Security. Among them, there are 8.104 million pure electric vehicles, accounting for 80.93% of the total number of new energy vehicles.

In addition, 2.209 million new energy vehicles were newly registered in China in the first half of the year, an increase of 100.26 percent over the same period last year, a record high. The new registrations of new energy vehicles account for 19.90% of the total.

Divided by region, there were more than 1 million cars in 81 cities and more than 3 million cars in 20 cities in the first half of the year. Among them, there are more than 6 million cars in Beijing and more than 5 million in Chengdu and Chongqing.

CTOnews.com learned that according to a brief description of the production and sales of the automobile industry in July 2022 released by the China Automobile Association on August 11, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China in July were 617,000 and 593000 respectively, an increase of 1.2 times over the same period last year.
