The lead time of power management chips in July has been lengthened against the trend, and the shortage of semiconductors has not been completely alleviated.

With the chip shortage gradually alleviated, the delivery time is shortened, but the shortage is still serious in some areas.

According to the latest Susquehanna Financial Group data, the average chip delivery time (the cycle between semiconductor ordering and delivery) was 26.9 weeks in July, compared with 27 weeks in June, which has been shortened for the third month in a row.

However, while overall indicators have improved, the supply of power management chips and microcontrollers, especially those used in the automotive and industrial control markets, remains tight.

For example, the average lead time for power management chips increased to 32 weeks in July from 31.3 weeks last month, and the prices of some products are still rising.

Susquehanna analyst Chris Rolland pointed out that for the broader industry, the impact of inventory and excessive orders is still waiting to fade, the decline in demand for PC and smartphone chips has not yet ended the overall shortage in the industry, and the overall delivery time is still more than twice as long as in normal times.

Investors have determined that the chip industry is in a cyclical downturn, with the Philadelphia stock market semiconductor index down 24% so far this year.
