At this conference, Chi Yu, deputy director of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Jiangsu Province, said that in the first half of this year, the total output value of the main business enterprises of integrated circuit industry in Jiangsu Province reached 135 billion yuan, up 10.5% year-on-year. In the future, Jiangsu Province will speed up the construction of national innovation platform carriers such as the National Integrated Circuit Characteristic Process and Packaging Test Innovation Center, the National Third Generation Semiconductor Technology Innovation Center, and Nanjing Wuxi National Core Fire Double Innovation Base.

Chi Yu said that at present, Nanjing EDA Innovation Center has applied to the Ministry of Science and Technology and is under examination and approval. This is the first EDA Innovation Center to report to the Ministry of Science and Technology in China.

EDA stands for Electronic Design Automation, which is used to complete the functional design, synthesis, verification, physical design (including layout, routing, layout, design rule checking, etc.) of VLSI chips.

In the 1970s, chips were less complex, and chip designers could manually complete the input, layout, and routing of circuit diagrams. Since then, with the development of the chip industry, chip designers have begun to work on integrated circuit layout editing, PCB layout and routing through computer assistance, and the EDA industry has gradually developed.

At present, chip design can not be separated from EDA software, EDA software has become the most important and necessary software tool in the field of integrated circuits, and EDA industry has also become the most upstream and high-end industry of the whole chip industry.
