According to New Scientist, engineers wrote the "upgrade code" in 2015, but found a bug in subsequent tests, and they were unable to reproduce it during a computer simulation, and the upgrade was put on hold until 2019, when the computer simulation was updated and the bug was reproduced and repaired.

Then there was a long period of testing, and now the upgrade is finally ready for use on the Curiosity Mars rover, and Curiosity is about to speed up.

CTOnews.com learned that according to NASA's previous strategy, Curiosity must often stop to check its location during the mission, and with this update, it will be able to move quickly and improve detection efficiency.
