Apple Mac shipments in India increased by 50% in the first half of 2022 compared with the same period last year, and corporate market share doubled.
On Aug. 19, DIGITIMES reported that Apple has maintained good momentum in both the consumer and business sectors amid a bleak outlook for the global and Indian PC markets.
Apple's Mac shipments in India rose 50 per cent in the first half of 2022 from a year earlier, and its share of the corporate market doubled to nearly 5 per cent, the Economic Times reported, citing Counterpoint Research data. In addition, Apple's PC market share in the Indian consumer market has surpassed Acer's 3.8 per cent.
The Economic Times reported that Apple has done a good job in expanding the number and channels of corporate dealers in first-and second-tier cities and towns. In the enterprise market, Wipro, a large IT company in India, has decided to provide MacBook Air and MacBook Pro to university employees who come to Wipro from universities in order to attract and retain top talent.
At present, India is also trying to win over PC manufacturers such as Apple to set up factories in India. However, due to the lack of interest of these companies in investing heavily in manufacturing PC in India, the Business Standard reported that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India is in negotiations with multinationals and may reformulate incentives to attract multinational manufacturers of notebooks, tablets and servers to invest in India.
