Bandai Namenggong: reduce the number of games developed, add NFT and meta-universe, and focus on hot IP to improve product quality
CTOnews.com August 19, TweakTown reported that Bandai Namenggong executives said the company would reduce the number of games developed to focus on popular IP and improve the quality of its products.
"in order to improve the quality of games under development, we will further strengthen our review system through a committee of senior producers. In order to steadily develop high-quality games, we will reduce the number of games and improve the quality of games more than ever before. We will make more solid investment in necessary games according to the level of the market and the expectations of fans."
In addition, Bandai Namenggong provided more details about its upcoming NFT and metaverse plans and confirmed that the first metaverse will be set up in the Gundam franchise.
The first meta-universe will be based on Gunda IP. It is called Side-G, a galaxy with multiple "colonies" for different activities and content; one for e-sports, another for related products, and one for games.
Bandai told investors that its meta-universe and the NFT incorporated into it were not used for speculative purposes.
"eventually, by connecting a number of colonies that have been launched, we will establish strong ties with our fans. We will become NFT, introducing new technologies such as blockchain not for speculation, but for fans, we will consider the need for connectivity. [our goal is] to connect with fans and expand the community. I want to create a world where fans can contact, "Bandai Namenggong executives said in a question-and-answer session on the first-quarter earnings call.
"with IP as its axis, Bandai Namenggong will develop a meta-universe for each IP as a new framework to connect with fans. In this IP mettaverse, we expect that virtual spaces will enable customers to enjoy a wide range of entertainment on the IP axis, as well as take advantage of the unique advantages of Bandai Namenggong to integrate physical products and venues with digital elements.
"our goal is to establish an open framework to provide a place for contact between fans and business partners. Through IP Metaverse, we will build a community between Namenggong and fans, as well as fans.
"through these communities and content, we will establish in-depth, extensive, multifaceted relationships that will continue over a long period of time, and we will focus on the quality of these connections."
