CTOnews.com, Nov. 24, according to Gmesradar, Microsoft seems to think the rumors that "GTA 6" will be released in 2024 are true.

In its latest response to CMA's investigation into its ongoing acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft referred to the rumored release date of "GTA 6", arguing that Activision games did not account for a large share of the market and that acquisitions were not enough to hurt competition. As a defence, Microsoft mentioned other major games and publishers, including Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar, where Microsoft said "the much anticipated GTA 6 is expected to be released in 2024."

While it sounds like Microsoft has confirmed the release date of GTA 6, Microsoft is actually citing a previous Bloomberg report that "current and former Rockstar employees estimate that GTA 6 is at least two years away from release and is expected to be released in 2024."

It is entirely possible that Microsoft knows something about Rockstar's "GTA 6" plan, but it is also possible that it is simply quoting public reports and rumors.

CTOnews.com learned that neither Rockstar nor its parent company Take-Two confirmed the release date of "GTA 6" or even the target year. However, the fact that Microsoft revealed its release date in an official report is noteworthy in itself, and Microsoft has gone to great lengths to succeed in the acquisition.

Rockstar had previously called the massive leak of "GTA 6" in September "very disappointing", but assured fans that it would not affect game development.
