The Chengdu-Kunming Railway has a total length of about 860 kilometers and a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour. It adopts the mode of construction and opening by sections. At present, only about 230 kilometers of Emei-Mianning section is under construction.

After the static acceptance of the project is qualified, comprehensive test is carried out on each system of the whole line by using detection train and relevant detection equipment at specified test speed, including detecting the interface relationship between relevant systems, debugging and optimizing each system and the overall system, so as to make the system function meet the design requirements and provide scientific basis for opening and operation.

After completion, the line will form China-Myanmar, China-Vietnam and China-Laos international railway channels together with the Trans-Asian Railway, which will play an important role in strengthening trade exchanges between China and Southeast Asia and South Asia and promoting the construction of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area.
