CTOnews.com November 26-One of the most requested improvements to Gmail users is to further enhance search. Google wrote in a brief announcement today: "Provide better search results based on your recent search history in Gmail." The announcement only mentions Gmail.com on the web, not the Gmail app.

CTOnews.com learned that Google optimized Gmail's search function in July to provide personalized query suggestions based on "how often you interact with colleagues through Gmail" and other "historical exchanges." Another improvement at the time was the deployment of new machine learning models that provided "more relevant, context-appropriate contact suggestions and intent-matching of names and email addresses." For example, reorder suggestions match contacts sorted by first name or email address instead of last name.
