More than 15000, Cambridge University published all existing Darwin letters during the period 1822-1882.
CTOnews.com, November 26, you now have the opportunity to access most of Charles Charles Darwin's manuscripts on the Internet. The University of Cambridge in the UK has released all of Darwin's existing letters online, including 400 letters that have never been shown before or have been "reinterpreted" in recent years.
CTOnews.com learned that the letters currently available for retrieval cover more than 15000 letters written between 1822 and 1882, including what he thought when HMS Beagle rose to fame, the drafting of the Origin of species, and his deathbed perception of life.
Through the letters of the past 60 years, we can also gain a deeper understanding of the changes in scientists' attitudes towards this "theory of evolution" at that time. The Origin of species met with a great deal of opposition in academic circles after it was first published in 1859, and many young scientists confirmed it as a fact in 1882. The letters also show that Darwin was experimenting a few months before his death.
