CTOnews.com, November 27, according to the state-owned small new official Weibo, the No. 4 unit of Hebei Fengning pumped Storage Power Station was put into operation on November 22, marking the full completion of the annual production plan target of 12 units with an installed capacity of 3.65 million kilowatts.

This year, the State Grid has realized the full operation of three pumping and storage power stations, including Dunhua in Jilin, Huanggou in Heilongjiang, and Yimeng in Shandong, and the units of Fengning in Hebei and Jinzhai in Anhui have been put into operation steadily.

CTOnews.com learned that pumped storage power stations can make use of the natural drop between upper and lower reservoirs according to the law of peak and valley of power use. when the power load is low, they can use electricity to pump water from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir, which can be effectively stored, and the stored potential energy can be converted into electricity needed by users at the peak of electricity consumption.

Up to now, the total capacity of State Grid in operation and pumped storage is 2716 kilowatts. It is expected that by the end of this year, Hebei Fengning and Anhui Jinzhai pumped storage power stations will each exceed the planned one unit, providing reliable support for ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid and promoting the consumption of new energy.
