CTOnews.com November 28, Fuji Film Co., Ltd. today announced an investment of US $188 million (about 1.357 billion yuan) to build a cell culture medium production plant in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina, USA.

The new plant will be operated by Fuji Film Owen Technology, a subsidiary of Fuji Film Co., Ltd., which develops and provides cell culture solutions for life science research, biological production, cell and gene therapy and medical applications.

Fuji Film says demand for cell media to support biological production and advanced therapies is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10-12% by 2031, CTOnews.com has learned. In order to meet the needs of its customers, the company made a strategic decision to expand production capacity by building factories in biotechnology centers around the world.

According to reports, the regional supply network shares Fuji Film Irving's unified quality system and raw material plan, enabling the company to quickly adapt to natural disasters or unforeseen problems, continue to operate and deliver products to customers around the world. In addition, land development and construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2023 and the plant will begin operation in 2025.
