CTOnews.com, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) long-time Disney CEO Bob Iger (Bob Iger) recently returned to Disney after two years of retirement and dismissed rumors that Apple would buy the company.

Disney abruptly sacked former chief executive Bob Chapke this month and Bob Iger returned to office. Disney wants the 71-year-old to lead the company for two years while it is looking for a new CEO, after Bob Iger led Disney for 20 years.

The returning CEO held his first plenary meeting with Disney employees today. According to reports, at the meeting, Iger talked about rumors that Apple and Disney might reach a merger agreement and operate as a company, and Iger refuted all the rumors at the company meeting. CTOnews.com learned that Iger had served on Apple's board for many years before quitting after Apple began competing with Disney on original video content.

Although there are no media reports that Apple will buy Disney, some analysts often say it makes sense.

Disney is a far cry from the size of any company Apple has acquired before. Apple's most recent acquisition was the $3 billion acquisition of Beats in 2014, which includes the foundation of Apple's music subscription service.

As for Disney, Bob Iger said any discussion of Apple's acquisition of the company was "pure speculation".

According to Deadline, the man who bought Pixar, Legend Pictures, Lucasfilm and Fox for Disney during his last tenure as CEO also pointed out that Disney will not make any more big acquisitions in the near future.
