Support for free text translation, Firefox Firefox official translation extension 1.2 released

CTOnews.com Nov 29, Mozilla's official Firefox Firefox translation extension, Firefox Translations 1.2, was released today. The new version supports free text translation, new changes to the target language options, and many other improvements.

Unlike Google's Chrome browser and Microsoft's Edge browser, Firefox Firefox does not integrate translation services by default. And unlike Google Translate, Bing Translate and other translation engines, Firefox Translations is translated offline, which is inferior in terms of translation quality, but it has the advantage of not submitting data about websites or content to third parties.

CTOnews.com learned that Firefox Translations 1.2 introduced free text translation. Previously, the extension only supports full-page translation, but in this update, users are allowed to select a sentence or paragraph on the page to translate.

Firefox Translations 1.2 can also choose different target languages. In previous versions of the extension, the target language was limited to translating foreign languages into system languages. For example, if the system language is Chinese, it can only be translated into Chinese when visiting English or German pages. In the new version, users are allowed to choose different target languages.
