CTOnews.com November 29, Linus Toward (Linus Torvalds) has released the seventh candidate version update of Linux Kernel 6.1. This may be the penultimate candidate for Linux Kernel 6.1, while the official version is expected to be released in December.

Torvald said that given the development status of Linux Kernel 6.1, he personally prefers to release an update of the candidate version of RC8 next week, followed by a formal version on December 11.

Another week has passed, and a new week has quietly begun. I thought Linux 6.1 would not be updated much this Thanksgiving week.

But I was wrong. At the end of the week, people still "send me things on Fridays" as usual, and people are not told to slow down on weekends. As a result, this week's statistics look almost exactly the same as in the previous two weeks.

And it's not just statistics, it all feels the same as usual. But there's nothing to worry about about the new candidate version, just a little more than in previous years.

So now I'm pretty sure we need another week, and I'll release RC8 updates in the future. This in turn means that the next merge window now will be during the holiday season. No matter what. That's how it works.
