CTOnews.com Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Computing is working to develop custom CPU solutions based on ARM architecture to better meet the diverse challenges posed by enterprise customers. At re:Invent today, Amazon introduced a new CPU for high-performance computing (HPC) workloads called Graviton3E.

Image from TechCrunch In view of HPC workloads requiring higher bandwidth, wider data paths, and data types spanning multiple dimensions, AWS redesigned the Graviton3 processor and enhanced its vector processing capabilities with a new name, Graviton3E. This CPU promises up to 35% performance gains in workloads that rely heavily on vector processing.

CTOnews.com understands that in the AWS EC2 instance type, the chip can provide up to 64 vCPU cores and 128 GiB of memory. AWS says it will offer this enhanced chip in C7gn and Hpc 7g instances. These instances provide dedicated network bandwidth of 200Gbps, optimized for traffic between instances in the same VPC.
