In addition to larger font icons and simplified operation pages, Alipay elder mode also removes some functions and marketing pushes that are not commonly used by the elderly, reducing interruptions to elderly users, and one-click access to manual services for people over the age of 65.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology previously issued the General Design Code for Aging of Internet websites and the General Design Code for Mobile Internet applications (App) (referred to as the specification) to help key beneficiary groups such as the elderly and the disabled have equal and convenient access to and use Internet application information. The specification proposes that advertising pop-up windows are strictly prohibited in the old-age interface and separate old-age App; auxiliary reading services such as extra-large font, high background color contrast, text magnification and voice reading are provided on web pages that provide aging services; and there are no induced downloads, induced payments and other induced buttons in pages that provide aging services or independent aging-friendly websites.
