CTOnews.com, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) Netflix CEO Reed Hastings (Reed Hastings) said this week that he regretted being too slow and didn't launch an ad-supported paid subscription plan until this year. Speaking at the Dealbook conference hosted by the New York Times, Netflix CEO said he had previously believed that the business model supported by advertising did not apply to Netflix.

WikiMedia Hastings said: "I don't think the subscription strategy supported by advertising is right for us, but now I think it's wrong. Hulu has proved that this model can be promoted on a large scale and offer users lower subscription prices. We have indeed made some adjustments in this regard and hope to catch up in the next few years."

Hastings also says advertisers are eager to advertise to cord-cutters, users who don't have access to traditional cable TV. "there are a lot of people between the ages of 18 and 49 who no longer watch traditional cable TV, and a large number of TV commercials can't find a target audience," he said.

CTOnews.com has learned that Netflix's subscription with ads is scheduled to be launched in 12 countries around the world last month and is priced at $6.99 in the US. The platform works with Microsoft to show users an average of four to five minutes of ads per hour, which are accurately placed using the user's date of birth, gender and location information.
