TSMC sprint for the 2024 production target of the new plant in Arizona, and the number of employees is expected to double next year.
CTOnews.com news on December 4, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily, TSMC rushed to the 2024 production target of its new plant in Arizona, USA, and strengthened manpower recruitment and dispatching. According to TSMC's plan, the number of employees at the plant will increase to 2000 in 2023, double that of this year.
TSMC's new plant in Arizona started in April 2021 and is expected to hold equipment-to-plant activities on the 6th of this month. According to a document from TSMC, the new plant is expected to change in December 2023.
CTOnews.com learned that in this public document, TSMC proposed a staffing plan for a new plant in the United States for the first time. Arizona currently has more than 1000 employees and expatriates, which will increase to 2000 in 2023.
Taiwan media pointed out that TSMC's new plant plans to produce semiconductor chips with 5-nanometer process technology, with a monthly production capacity of 20,000 wafers, creating more than 1600 professional jobs. The new Arizona plant will be TSMC's largest and most advanced production base in the United States.
In addition, TSMC says a large proportion of the world's 70,000 employees are trained engineers with STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) related degrees.
