CTOnews.com, December 5 (Xinhua)-- as the D9688 train leaves Chongzuo South Railway Station at 10:40 today, the Nanning-Chongzuo section of the southern high-speed railway (referred to as the "Nanchong section of the southern high-speed railway") has been officially opened for operation, according to CCTV news. The train travel time from Nanning to Chongzuo has been reduced from 2 hours and 36 minutes to 52 minutes.

The south connects Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region, and Pingxiang, the border city of China and Vietnam, with a total length of 201 kilometers, which is divided into two sections from Nanning to Chongzuo and from Chongzuo to Pingxiang.

The section of the Nanning-Pingxiang high-speed railway, which runs from Nanning to Pingxiang, is 121 kilometers long, passing through Nanning and Chongzuo cities, with a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. There are five stations in Nanning, Wuwei Airport, Fusuinan, Qujiuinan and Chongzuonan, among which Nanning Station is the existing station, Qunnan Station is the reserved station, and the other stations are newly built stations.

CTOnews.com learned that the section from Chongzuo to Pingxiang is still under construction. In addition, the railway department said that as an important transport infrastructure for the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the new land and sea corridor in the west, the southern high-speed railway is a convenient channel to connect China and ASEAN countries.
