CTOnews.com December 5, according to IGN news, CDPR will end support for The Witcher: Kunte cards, leaving only a small number of staff to maintain the game operations, the rest of the developers will move to other projects.

Witcher: Kunte will be updated with new cards and eSports tournaments in 2023, so the update will end in 2024. Specifically, the game will release 72 cards in three expansion packs in April, July, and September 2023, and will host two esports tournaments before moving to a community-centric maintenance phase where balance is shifted through community voting.

CDPR senior manager Paweč Burza responded to IGN: "Speaking of The Witcher: Kunte and its community, I would say that the game is not over yet and that the game will witness another great year (and more). "

CTOnews.com understands that Witcher: Kunte was first released as a closed beta in October 2016 and celebrated its fifth anniversary in May 2022 as a card game derived from Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

CDPR does have a number of projects busy right now, including the next generation Witcher trilogy, the first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, a remake of the original Witcher, and even a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 behind it. Freeing up staff to work on big projects may prevent the next Cyberpunk 2077 release nightmare.
