The woman filed a class action against Apple after her ex-husband used AirTag to track and harass her.

CTOnews.com, Dec. 6, citing Bloomberg, two women filed a class action lawsuit against Apple this week, saying that Apple's AirTag is very easy to use by stalkers. One of the women said in the lawsuit that her ex-husband tracked her location by stuffing AirTag into the child's backpack and intimidated the victim.

Tuyuan PexelsCTOnews.com learned that the class action also believed that the tracking function provided by AirTag led to the murder. The class action involves two cases in which an ex-boyfriend used AirTag to track down a woman in Akron, Ohio, and then shot a woman. The other is an Indiana woman who tracked her ex-boyfriend through AirTag and then shot him in a bar.

When Apple launched the AirTag in April 2021, it specifically mentioned the "stalker proof" feature. Once an AirTag is found within 30 feet (9 meters) of the vicinity, a notification will be sent to the iPhone and MacBook devices.

"although Apple has put safeguards in its Airtag products, these measures are obviously inadequate or even non-existent," it wrote in the class action. In the class action lawsuit, the women accused the company of issuing unsafe equipment and sought support and compensation from the court.
