CTOnews.com, December 7, Pwn2Own Toronto 2022 hacker contest officially kicked off today, which is also the 10th competition for consumer products. On the first day of the conference, Samsung's Galaxy S22 phone was breached twice, and the team successfully cracked received a lot of bonus income.

The STAR Lab team successfully executed an input validation attack in the third attempt by exploiting a zero-day vulnerability on S22, so the team earned $50000 (about 349000 yuan) and 5 Master of Pwn points.

Another contestant, Chim, also successfully cracked Samsung Galaxy S22, earning $25000 (about 174000 yuan) and five Master of Pwn points.

The organizers of the competition said: "the first winner of each target will receive all cash rewards and the equipment under test. In the next few rounds, all other winners will receive a 50 per cent bonus, but they will still receive all Master of Pwn points."

CTOnews.com learned that, according to the rules of the game, in both cases, the Galaxy S22 device was running the latest version of the Android operating system and installed all available updates.

On the first day of the competition, contestants also successfully demonstrated the exploitation of zero-day vulnerabilities in printers and routers, including Canon, Mikrotik, NETGEAR, TP-Link, Lexmark, Synology and HP.

At the Pwn2Own Toronto 2022 hacker contest, security researchers can target mobile phones, home automation hubs, printers, wireless routers, network-attached storage, smart speakers and other devices, all of which are up to date and in default configurations.
