CTOnews.com, December 8 (Xinhua)-- Twitter plans to charge a monthly subscription fee of $11 for Twitter Blue ("Blue V Certification") on iPhone and $7 a month for Twitter Blue on the website, according to The Information. The difference is to offset Apple's 30% "Apple tax" on internal purchases of apps.

Before the Twitter Blue was suspended, Musk set the subscription fee at $7.99, but the pricing will change after the re-launch, according to The Information. Some employees have been informed of the new pricing and it is still unclear whether the plan will change.

Users charge $11 a month if they subscribe to the service on iPhone and $7 a month if they subscribe to the service on the website. This pricing difference can encourage users to subscribe to the service on the site and avoid paying 30% of Apple's in-app purchase fee.

Many other companies also charge higher subscription fees on iPhone than on websites and Android devices, but this often leads to confusion among consumers about why prices vary from device to device.

Musk criticized Apple's app store fees last week and claimed that Apple had "threatened to remove the Twitter from its app store", but he later retracted that claim after a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook. After Musk and Cook met at Apple headquarters, Musk said they had a "good conversation" and there was a "misunderstanding" that the Twitter might be removed from the App Store.

CTOnews.com learned that Twitter plans to re-launch Twitter Blue on Friday, and Twitter Blue is expected to introduce different badge colors for businesses, government accounts and individuals.
