ABF, an American battery company, will build its first lithium iron phosphate super plant in Arizona
December 8 news, according to foreign media reports, the American battery company ABF (American Battery Factory) announced that it will build the first lithium iron phosphate (LFP) super factory battery production base in Tucson, Arizona, with an annual capacity of 3GWh.
The base, which will serve as the official headquarters of ABF, covers an area of about 2 million square feet and is the largest superplant for the production of lithium iron phosphate batteries in the United States. it is expected to provide $1.2 billion in capital investment and have a $3.1 billion economic impact on the state.
ABF, founded by Lion Energy, a supplier of battery and solar products, plans to produce lithium iron phosphate batteries for stationary applications and electric vehicles.
In March, the company announced plans to build a network of LFP battery plants in the United States. At the time, the company planned to announce a partnership and its first production plant in the coming months.
It is reported that lithium iron phosphate battery has lower risk of thermal runaway, longer life and lower price. The battery is highly recognized by global automakers and major energy storage systems, including Tesla, and has been used by a number of automakers, including Tesla, Rivian, Ford and Volkswagen.
In July, Ford said it would purchase lithium iron phosphate batteries from the Ningde era for use in electric pickups and SUV sold in North America.
