CTOnews.com, December 10 (Xinhua)-- Samsung Electronics is cutting spending on its device experience (DX) division, citing a company notice posted on its intranet earlier this week, according to a new report. According to the above notice, due to the current economic situation, Samsung's DX department has switched to emergency mode.

BusinessKorea quoted a Samsung person as saying that Samsung was "suffering from a decline in sales of televisions and household appliances", adding that "it is difficult for us to expect a rapid recovery in sales right now." One financial company predicts that Samsung's operating profit in 2023 will be 29% lower than this year.

Samsung said that in the current economic situation, high exchange rates and high interest rates, supply chain disruptions and reduced consumer demand contributed to the recent shift to the emergency model.

CTOnews.com has learned that Samsung Electronics has decided to cut overseas business travel and global marketing activities in charge of device experience (DX) units for smartphones, televisions and home appliances to mitigate losses.

In addition, it is reported that Samsung's new cost-cutting activities will reduce expenses and participate in overseas exhibitions, including the 2023 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Instead of attending the offline show, Samsung plans to unveil new devices through videoconferencing, or virtual events.

This is in stark contrast to previous rumors about the launch of the Galaxy S23 series of phones in 2023, when it was reported that Samsung would release the Galaxy S23 series offline in San Francisco, scheduled for early February next year.
