Twitter announces that "Blue V Certification" will restart on Monday, with higher iPhone prices.

CTOnews.com, December 11, Twitter announced today that its Twitter Blue subscription service will restart on Monday, with a subscription price of $8 a month on the web side and $11 a month through its iOS app. The higher price on iOS helps offset Apple's 15-30 per cent commission on subscription fees paid through App Store, which Twitter boss Elon Musk has criticised as too high.

CTOnews.com learned that users who subscribe to Twitter Blue will have a blue sign next to their names, provided they verify their phone numbers and their accounts are reviewed. Other additional features include the ability to edit tweets and upload higher-resolution 1080p videos, as well as a reader mode that makes it easy to read tweets. Users who change their user name, display name or profile photo will temporarily lose the blue check mark until their account is reviewed again.

Twitter suspended its Twitter Blue service last month after accounts with the blue sign were used to impersonate businesses, celebrities and other high-profile people. The only requirement to get the blue sign was to pay $8.

Twitter also announced that it would start replacing the previous "Official" tags for brands and other well-known accounts. Specifically, Twitter will provide golden matching logos for companies and gray matching logos for government and multilateral accounts, which will be launched later this week.

A picture shared by Twitter also shows that Twitter Blue subscribers will also see 50% fewer ads than non-Twitter Blue users, post longer videos, have priority tweets in the reply, mention and search sections, and get other new features in advance over time, all of which are listed as "coming soon."

Twitter did not say when accounts that were verified without subscribing to Twitter Blue would lose their blue check mark.
