IT House, December 12 (Xinhua) it is reported that Apple hopes to more than triple its iPhone production capacity in India in the next two years.

According to the Mint report, an anonymous "industry executive" said, "[Apple] wants to expand its production in India. It will reach more than three times their target production this year." Apple has instructed Foxconn, Pegatron and Willon, the three largest suppliers, to increase their production capacity and manpower in India, the report quoted a second executive as saying.

Foxconn recently announced a $500m (3.48 billion yuan) investment in its Indian subsidiary, hoping to improve its operational capacity in the country. Apple and its suppliers already produce several iPhone models in India, including the new iPhone 14 model, and are said to be planning to expand production to other products, including the iPad.

IT House has learned that the supply of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models before the Christmas holiday season in the United States has been severely restricted due to disruptions at Foxconn's main iPhone plant. Apple said in early November that it was "trying" to get supply back to normal, but customers who want to buy a high-end iPhone will face serious challenges as the holiday approaches.
