CTOnews.com, December 12 (Xinhua)-- Apple plans to launch new MacBook Air 13-inch, iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch models with OLED displays in 2024, according to industry analyst Ross Young.

Ross Young did not share additional details, but he said earlier this year that all three devices will have "two" OLED displays and two red, green and blue emitting layers to increase brightness and reduce power consumption. Ross Young has previously said that the three devices will also support ProMotion, with refresh rates up to 120Hz.

CTOnews.com learned that the 2017 or newer iPad Pro models already have ProMotion with 24Hz to 120Hz refresh rates, and ProMotion will be all the new features of MacBook Air. Apple added ProMotion to the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2021, which also ranges from 24Hz to 120Hz refresh rates.

There is currently no Mac or iPad with OLED display. Apple's latest MacBook Air and iPad Pro models come with LCD screens, and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro uses mini-LED backlight to improve brightness and improved 1 million: 1 contrast. Unlike the LCD with mini-LED, the OLED display has self-illuminated pixels and does not require a backlight, which will give the device better contrast and battery life.

In the past, Ross Young has accurately disclosed that devices such as Apple's iPhone 13 Pro and MacBook Pro will use ProMotion refresh rates, the iPad mini 6 will have an 8.3-inch display, the latest MacBook Air will have a slightly larger 13.6-inch display, and so on.
