The American man used AirTag to track his wife and was finally arrested by the local police.

CTOnews.com Carl Steven Shawver, 63, used AirTag three times to track his wife and was eventually arrested by local police, Keloland, Iowa, reported on Dec.13.

CTOnews.com has learned that Shaffer thought his wife might be having an affair, so for the first time put AirTag on the spare tire on the victim's car. Due to Apple's built-in security precautions, victims discovered AirTag used for tracking and subsequently filed a report with the Bettendorf, Iowa, police department.

After the warning, Shaffer was not taken into police custody. Shaffer didn't stop tracking, however, and put the AirTag in a plastic sandwich bag a second time, which he put in his wallet, and then stuffed the wallet on the spare tire again.

The third time Shaffer placed the AirTag on the car's subframe, near the front passenger tires, wrapped in plastic bags. The police then placed the three AirTags in the police station as evidence. So far, the victim has stopped Shaffer from calling and texting her. Shaffer is being held in the Polk County Jail, and a preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 19.
