CTOnews.com, December 18 (Xinhua) Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman revealed in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple has cancelled a new Mac Pro with a high-end "M2 Extreme" chip with 48 CPU cores and 152 GPU cores.

According to previous revelations, Apple's M2 Extreme chip will be composed of two M2 Ultra, and the industry pointed out that Apple's M2 Pro/Max/Extreme and other processors are mass-produced using TSMC's 3nm process.

However, Gurman said that the new Mac Pro product with M2 Ultra will still be launched normally.

CTOnews.com learned that Apple's Mac Pro is one of the last Intel-based Mac models to be sold and the only Mac product line that does not use the Apple Silicon chip option. In the "high-energy attack" event earlier this year, Apple even simply warmed up the launch of the Apple Silicon Mac Pro.

Due to the maturity of small chip (chiplet) design and the smooth progress of TSMC's advanced packaging technology, it was reported that Apple may launch a M2 Extreme processor with two M2 Ultra integrated next year, with 48 cores of CPU and 152 cores of GPU. The industry pointed out that Apple's M2 Pro/Max/Extreme and other processors are mass-produced with TSMC's 3nm process, and if the M2 Extreme news is true, Apple's PC processor performance will catch up with Intel next year.
