The child bought $16293.10 in the game on iPad, and Apple refunded $10553.86 after his mother applied.
CTOnews.com, December 20 (Xinhua) when a bear child in the United States was playing a game on iPad, he paid a cumulative total of $16293.10 (about 114000 yuan) through game purchase. Apple has refunded $10553.86 (about 73666 yuan) after the child's mother contacted Apple.
CTOnews.com learned that George, the son of Wilton resident Jessica Johnson, bought various game rings on a game called Sonic Forces, spending a total of $16293.10 (114000 yuan) on App Store. The iPad has been tied to her PayPal account.
Johnson is a real estate agent and mother of two. She said that on July 9, she noticed 12 consecutive identical charges of $106.34 on her bank statement. It was later found that her child paid for the internal purchase with iPad.
Johnson first contacted the bank, which asked her to contact Apple in its October reply. She then contacted Apple and Sega, the developer of the game Sonic Forces.
Johnson said she received a call from Apple on Tuesday and the company agreed to refund some of her money. "they refunded me $10553.86 (about 73666 yuan)," but she didn't know how Apple calculated the refund.
"App Store has proven to be the safest and most trustworthy place to find and download applications over the past decade," Apple said in a statement. "We understand that errors can still occur and work with customers to investigate, educate them to use tools that can be used to protect them, and in this case, provide refunds to customers."
