Mobile phones sent for repair are not afraid of information leakage. Samsung Galaxy S20 update introduces maintenance mode.

CTOnews.com, December 21, the Samsung Galaxy S20 series began to launch Android 13 / OneUI 5 in early November this year. Citing foreign technology media Galaxy Club, the series recently received a G98**XXUFGVL5 firmware update, including a December security patch while introducing a maintenance mode.

Samsung announced in late October that it would introduce a maintenance mode in OneUI 5.0s, but it is currently limited to some high-end Galaxy models. Samsung is trying to extend its maintenance model to more models.

CTOnews.com learned that when users need to send their Galaxy phones to a repair center for repair, they can turn on this mode and block all personal information on their phones.

To enter maintenance mode, turn it on in Settings > Battery and equipment maintenance (Device and Battery Care), after which the phone will restart. After rebooting, a separate account is created on the phone for technicians to use when repairing the phone, thus preventing them from accessing the user's personal data.

This update has been pushed to the European version of the Galaxy S20 model, and it is believed that Samsung will also push it to the Bank of China Galaxy S20 device in the near future.
