It is exposed that Apple iPhone 15 series will use Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 5G baseband chip.
CTOnews.com, December 21 (Xinhua)-- Apple's iPhone 15 series will continue to use Qualcomm 5G modems (baseband chips) as Apple continues to develop its own 5G custom chips, according to DigiTimes.
Apple is currently developing an internal 5G modem that aims to replace Qualcomm's Snapdragon 5G baseband chip in the next few years. According to today's report, TSMC will become a major supplier of Qualcomm 5G chips for the iPhone 15 series, using 5nm and 4nm processes.
CTOnews.com learned that Apple's iPhone 14 series uses Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 modems, which help improve 5G speed and battery life. It has been revealed that Apple's iPhone 15 will use a more advanced Snapdragon X70 chip with artificial intelligence that can increase average speed, improve coverage, improve signal quality, reduce latency and improve energy efficiency by up to 60 per cent.
It was previously reported that Apple would switch to an internal 5G modem as soon as 2023, but subsequent reports showed that the development of Apple's 5G baseband chip had "failed" and that Apple would continue to use Qualcomm modems for the foreseeable future.
