CTOnews.com has learned that MKBHD published a comparison video of voice assistant horizontal reviews in 2017. Five years later, MKBHD still awards Google Assistant the best voice assistant, while Amazon's Alexa performs the worst. Siri is second to last.

In this test, Siri had problems handling multiple countdown times. On HomePod and even Apple Watch, Siri can set multiple countdown times, while on iPhone, Siri can only set one countdown. In terms of response speed, both Siri and Samsung Bixby have answer lag.

All four assistants were good at answering facts when prompted with specific questions. However, it is the follow-up that gives Bixby and Alexa the most headaches. Siri and Assistant are competitive when it comes to conversational questioning, but MKBHD testing shows Assistant can stick to longer contexts than Siri.

Siri also has shortcomings in device control. Google Assistant and Samsung's Bixby are able to launch voice recordings and play specific shows on Netflix. Siri seems to just launch the relevant app without taking any further steps.

Siri also doesn't perform very well when it comes to taking selfies via voice. Google Assistant launched the camera app and switched to the front-facing camera, and started a countdown before taking a photo. While voice control is fully capable of driving the camera app on the iPhone, Siri simply activates the camera.
