CTOnews.com, December 27 (Xinhua)-- Hainan Wanning floating Offshore Wind Power Project, the world's largest commercial floating offshore wind power project invested and developed by China Power Construction Corporation, officially began construction in Wanning City, Hainan Province on December 26, according to the official website of China Power Construction.

CTOnews.com learned that the project is located in the eastern sea area of Wanning City, Hainan Province, with a planned installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts and an average annual generating capacity of about 4.2 billion kilowatts. The construction plan is divided into two phases: the installed capacity of the first phase is 200,000 kilowatts, which will be completed and connected to the grid by the end of 2025; the installed capacity of the second phase of the project is 800000 kilowatts, which is scheduled to be completed and connected to the grid by the end of 2027.

China Power Construction said that far-reaching offshore wind power is the big market and main battlefield of clean energy in the future. Wanning floating offshore wind power project is the largest commercial floating offshore wind power project in the world, and it is also the first large-scale offshore wind power project in China.

According to reports, after the completion of the project, it will help China's wind power industry to form a complete original technology system of floating wind power with large capacity and far-reaching sea, cultivate the supporting supply capacity of floating wind power equipment and its domestic industrial chain, and fully master the design, construction and construction technology of floating offshore wind power projects.
