CTOnews.com, December 28, as previously predicted, Microsoft officially terminated its support for Surface Laptop 2 today, and firmware updates and driver updates will no longer be available. Microsoft typically provides support for Surface devices for four years, calculated on the basis of the launch of the device.

CTOnews.com learned that the Surface Laptop 2, which was launched in October 2018, offers only a 13-inch display (the Surface Laptop 3 offers a 15-inch model) and an eighth-generation Intel Core processor. It also has a memory of 8 or 16GB and a storage configuration of 128GB-1TB. Surface Laptop 2 also restores the classic black option of the original Surface Pro and RT tablets.

Microsoft's termination of support does not mean that Surface Laptop 2 will not receive subsequent Windows updates. Surface Laptop 2 is compatible with Win11 systems, so you can get system security and functional updates. However, because firmware and driver updates are not available, you may not be able to seek help and find a solution after experiencing compatibility issues.

CTOnews.com learned that Microsoft's next product to end support may be Surface Book 2. Unlike Surface Laptop 2, the laptop's powerful features have been supported for five years and six months left. While impressive, this is still a far cry from the Surface Pro 3's record-breaking firmware update time of seven and a half years.
