CTOnews.com learned that the second phase expansion plan of Taiwan's Zhongke Taichung Park passed the review of the EIA team on the 5th of this month. The Zhongke Administration Bureau originally planned to hand over the land for TSMC to build a 2-nanometer new plant in May next year. TSMC has planned two phases and four fabs, starting next year. The first 2-nm process can be put into production by the end of 2024 at the earliest, with a total investment of 800 billion to 1 trillion New Taiwan dollars.

According to TSMC data, 2 nm process compared to N3E, at the same power, speed will increase by 10% to 15%, or at the same speed, power consumption can be reduced by 25% to 30%. As for the more advanced 1 nm process, TSMC has not yet announced the production schedule.
