CTOnews.com reported on December 29 that the Zhongwei-Lanzhou section of the Yinchuan-Lanzhou high-speed railway will be opened this morning, marking the official opening of the 431km Yinchuan-Lanzhou high-speed railway, which can be reached from Yinchuan to Lanzhou in 2 hours and 56 minutes at the earliest.

The Yinlan high-speed railway is an important part of China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network from Beijing to Lanzhou, from Yinchuan in Ningxia to Lanzhou in Gansu Province in the south. It is 431 kilometers long and has a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The Yinlan high-speed railway has been built in two stages since 2015, and the section from Yinchuan to Zhongwei was put into operation on December 29, 2019.

CTOnews.com learned that the Zhongwei-Lanzhou section of the Yinlan high-speed railway, which will be put into operation today, will be completed on December 3, and trial operation will begin on December 15. The line has a total length of 219 kilometers and a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. There are seven stations in Zhongwei South, Beitan, West Pingchuan, Jingyuan North, Baiyin South, Qinwangchuan and Lanzhou West, of which Zhongwei South and Lanzhou West Station are existing stations, and the others are newly built stations.

At the initial stage of operation, the railway department will arrange the operation of passenger trains from Yinchuan to Lanzhou according to the daily line, weekend line and peak line, with a maximum of 15 pairs of trains every day, including 4 pairs from Lanzhou to Yinchuan and 1 pair from Lanzhou to Zhongwei. Lanzhou to Yinchuan and Zhongwei can reach as soon as 2 hours, 56 minutes and 1 hour 42 minutes respectively, which is reduced by 5 hours, 26 minutes and 4 hours 04 minutes respectively.
