CTOnews.com, December 29, according to the Taiwan Economic Daily, TSMC held a 3nm mass production expansion ceremony in Tainan Science Park this morning, and Chairman Liu Deyin delivered a speech.

Taiwan media pointed out that today it is TSMC Nanke 3nm mass production and the eighth phase of the wafer 18 plant Shangliang expansion. Liu Deyin said that TSMC has invested more than NT $1 trillion in Nanke, and the second phase of construction in the United States has also been carried out at the same time to strengthen trust with customers.

Liu Deyin stressed that he will continue to invest in Taiwan, and revealed in advance that the TSMC Hsinchu Research and Development Center will be opened in the second quarter of next year, and it is expected that 8,000 personnel will be stationed. In addition, TSMC 2nm is expected to be put into production in Hsinchu and Taichung, with a total of six phases of the project.

CTOnews.com learned that Liu Deyin said that the yield of 3 nm process was the same as that of 5 nm mass production. Compared with 5 nm, the logic density of 3 nm process increases by 60%, and the power consumption is reduced by 30% to 35% at the same speed.
