Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, December 29 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- Samsung user Antonio Lewis recently filed a class action lawsuit against Samsung, claiming that Galaxy Z Fold 3's folding technology did not meet Samsung's official promise of durability.
According to the class action document, Samsung said in an official campaign that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could be folded and unfolded 200,000 times, equivalent to five years of use. But the actual situation is that the failure rate of Z Fold 3 screen is very high, mainly the folding part and its extended cracks.
The lawsuit claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 screen is so vulnerable that tiny particles enter through gaps in the hinges, forming bubbles at the folds of the screen. Samsung's test environment does not include real applications that expose phones to environmental factors such as temperature fluctuations, dust, sweat, water and the normal daily handling of devices, all of which affect durability and hinge functions, according to the lawsuit.
CTOnews.com learned that Lewis said it bought Galaxy Z Fold 3 for about $1800 in 2021, but the screen failed in less than a year of actual use. Lewis contacted Samsung for after-sales, but the official answer was that the screen was not under repair.
The class action alleges that Samsung used "unfair, misleading and deceptive statements, negligence and conduct" in selling Samsung Z fold 3 phones. It claims that Samsung violated New York Commercial Law, the Virginia Consumer Protection Act and the State Consumer Fraud Act (including North Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska, Iowa, Mississippi, Arkansas, North Carolina and Utah).
