National Energy Group: Qinghai Tongde pumped Storage Power Station has been approved with a total installed capacity of 2.4 million kilowatts
CTOnews.com, January 2, according to the official account of the State Energy Group, the Tongde pumped storage power station of the State Energy Group was approved and approved by the Development and Reform Commission of Qinghai Province on December 30.
CTOnews.com learned that pumped storage power stations can make use of the natural drop between upper and lower reservoirs according to the law of peak and valley of power use. when the power load is low, they can use electricity to pump water from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir, which can be effectively stored, and the stored potential energy can be converted into electricity needed by users at the peak of electricity consumption.
According to the State Energy Group, the project, located in Hebei Township, Tongde County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, is a key project to be implemented during the 14th five-year Plan in the National pumped Storage medium-and long-term Development Plan (2021-2035). It is also the core support power supply of Mar block "water-light storage" 10 million kilowatts of multi-energy complementary integration base.
The total installed capacity of the power station is 2.4 million kilowatts and eight 300000 kilowatt single-stage mixed-flow pump hydrogenerator sets are installed. The hub project is mainly composed of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water conveyance system, power plant and switch station. The normal water level of the upper reservoir is 3665m, and the lower reservoir is the pumped storage power station with the highest elevation of 2 million kilowatts, using the reservoir area of Mazhang Hydropower Station under construction.
In addition, the project has a total investment of 17.03 billion yuan and a total planned construction period of 78 months. the first unit is expected to be put into production by the end of 2027 and all units will be put into operation in 2028.
