Panasonic has just released a full-frame S5M2 and S5M2X microsheet, which is Panasonic's first interchangeable lens camera that supports phase detection AF. S5M2 will go public at the end of January at $1999 and S5M2X at $2199 at the end of May.
Compared with S5Magic S5M2 / S5M2X, the upgrade points include:
-support for phase detection AF (including sonic video except 1080 150max 180p)
-Motion jitter can be better eliminated when shooting video.
-dual native ISO can be selected manually to improve the JPG straight-out engine (in cooperation with Leica)
-supports 6K 3:2 or 5.9K 16:9 4:2:0 10bit recording with full doors, and unlimited 4K / C4K 4:2:2 10bit recording (4K / C4K 50p / 60p is APS-C frame trimming mode) with built-in small size cooling fan
-support for loading / saving Lut, system frequency setting (24.00Hz), synchronous scanning, video control panel, full-size HDMI interface
-upgrade to 3.69 million-point EVF
-upgrade to dual UHS-II SD card slot
-upgrade to USB 10Gbps interface and support 9V charging / power supply
Differences in S5M2X:
-LUMIX LOGO blackening treatment, white logo is also changed to gray
-support RAW video output
-you can record videos in All-Intra format and ProRes format on USB SSD
-push IP streams through wired (optional) / wireless Nic
S5M2 users can get the same functionality as S5M2X for a fee ($200), so the real difference is appearance.
Also appearing at the same time was the Lumix S 14-28mm F4-5.6MACRO lens. It has basically the same length, weight / center of gravity, zoom ring / pair of focus ring position as the S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6, so it is easy to match on the stabilizer. In addition to dustproof and splash-proof, the outermost lens also has an anti-fouling fluorine coating.
