According to CTOnews.com news on January 7, Wen Yuan Zhixing released a new generation of autopilot sensor kit WeRide Sensor Suite 5.1 (WeRide SS 5.1) on CES 2023. WeRide SS 5.1 fully integrates multi-sensors such as gauge-level high-resolution semi-solid lidar, side azimuth blind lidar, and high-precision camera to achieve non-dead-angle sensing of 360 degrees and 200m straight line distance in front.

This release of WeRide SS 5.1 continues the distributed design concept of Wenyuan Zhixing autopilot sensor suite, goes further in separation, miniaturization and compactness, and is tailored to the L3 high-level intelligent driving requirements for large-scale mass production, and through different configurations, it can easily achieve different levels of autopilot perception from L2 to L4, flexibly adapt to all kinds of driving scenarios, and greatly reduce subsequent adjustment and maintenance costs.

CTOnews.com learned that the WeRide SS 5.1 roof main sensor module adopts a streamlined "wing" design, which greatly reduces the impact of the sensor module on wind resistance caused by driving, is closer to the design concept of the original production model, and enhances the appearance recognition.

In addition to the upgrade of the sensor hardware module, WeRide SS 5.1 has also undergone a substantial upgrade on the in-car visual interaction system, with a comprehensive upgrade of the perception and display of the road environment by the self-driving system on the interior screen, and the visual performance style is more in line with public cognitive habits, so that passengers in the car can understand the current driving state of the self-driving vehicle more clearly and intuitively, thus effectively enhancing the ride experience.

Up to now, Wenyuan Zhixing has accumulated more than 13 million kilometers of self-driving mileage on open roads, in addition to the L4-level self-driving commercial operating products represented by self-driving taxis, self-driving minibuses, self-driving freight vehicles and self-driving sanitation vehicles, but also in the continuous layout of L2+/L3-level high-level intelligent driving commercial products.
