CTOnews.com, January 8 (Xinhua)-- Android-powered Surface Duo 2 dual-screen phones have been out of stock worldwide, and consumers have noticed that Surface Duo 2 is out of stock in Microsoft stores in many regions during the holidays, leaving only a few markets with one or two SKU available.

In fact, Surface Duo 2 was out of stock a few months ago, when Microsoft blamed it on a shortage of components. Since then, the shortage of Surface Duo 2 has not improved.

Foreign media Android Central contacted Microsoft for the latest information on the supply of Surface Duo 2, and a Microsoft spokesman replied: "We know that Surface Duo 2 is currently in short supply in several markets, and although we do not have inventory information to share, Surface Duo is still an important part of the Surface product portfolio."

Microsoft has not confirmed whether Surface Duo 2 has been discontinued, although it does appear to be. The device has been on the market for more than a year now, and more and better mobile phones have emerged on the market, which is not competitive enough.

Although the company has sold out of Surface Duo 2 inventory, Microsoft does say that Surface Duo 2 is still an important part of Surface's portfolio.

Android Central sources also said that Microsoft has not dropped out of the Android hardware business and that "third-generation" Surface Android phones are under development.
