CTOnews.com January 12 news, according to Taiwan media Central News Agency reported that TSMC 3 nm (N3) mass production in the fourth quarter of last year, upgraded version of 3 nm (N3E) process will be mass production in the third quarter of this year, estimated this year 3 nm and upgraded version of 3 nm will contribute about 4% to 6% of revenue.

At TSMC's online corporate presentation held this afternoon, TSMC President Wei Zhejia said that due to the downturn in the PC and smartphone markets and the impact of customer regulation inventory, TSMC's 7-nanometer and 6-nanometer capacity utilization rates are no longer at the highs of the past three years, and it is estimated that it will take several quarters to adjust, and demand is expected to warm up in the second half of this year.

CTOnews.com understands that TSMC 3 nm mass production in the fourth quarter of last year, 2023 will be full capacity production. Wei Zhejia revealed that the upgraded version of the 3-nanometer process will be mass produced in the third quarter of this year.

Wei Zhejia pointed out that 3 nm and upgraded 3 nm will contribute a middle percentage (about 4% to 6%) of revenue this year, revenue contribution will be higher than the contribution of the first year of mass production of 5 nm process, and the number of customer product designs will be more than twice that of 5 nm.

Data show that TSMC achieved operating revenue of NT $2263.89 billion (about RMB 502.584 billion yuan) from January to December 2022, up 42.6% year-on-year.
