Samsung promotes the upgrade of SSD master control process: the latest PM9C1a has used advanced 5 nm process.

CTOnews.com January 14 news, Samsung is vigorously pushing SSD master process upgrade, in the industry generally adopted 12nm process master environment, Samsung will own the latest PM9 C1a SSD master upgrade to the advanced 5nm process.

According to the official introduction, under the support of 5nm master control, PM9 C1a has improved energy efficiency by 70% compared with its predecessor, and when the laptop enters standby mode, the SSD's energy consumption is reduced by about 10%.

CTOnews.com understands that Samsung's 990 PRO flagship SSD released last year also uses a more advanced 8nm process.

According to introduction, Samsung 990 PRO adopts Samsung self-developed "PASCAL" main control chip, 8 nm low power consumption architecture. Officials say the 990 PRO's operating current has been reduced to 2.2A, compared with 2.9A for the 980 PRO. In terms of efficiency, the 990 PRO has 50% higher performance per watt than the 980 PRO.

Samsung 990 PRO series flagship solid state drive has been listed in China, 1TB version 1099 yuan, 2TB version 2299 yuan. Samsung PM9 C1a SSD is also coming soon, will be available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB capacity options, the price has not yet been announced.
