CTOnews.com, January 16, at the 2023 media communication meeting held by the China Electric vehicle Association of 100 people on January 12, Zhang Yongwei, vice chairman and secretary-general of the China Electric vehicle Association, expressed his views on the new changes in China's new energy vehicle market in 2023.

Zhang Yongwei said frankly that there are several disadvantages worth paying attention to in 2023. First, the subsidy for the purchase of new energy vehicles will be completely withdrawn in 2023, and the cost of buying cars for consumers will rise. Second, the supply chain is highly uncertain, the rising prices of upstream raw materials and the structural shortage of chips are still prominent. In 2022, a shortage of chips led to a production reduction of more than 1 million vehicles and 10 million worldwide. The chip shortage is expected to improve in 2023, but it will not be balanced immediately. Third, traditional car enterprises have been hit, competition in the field of new energy vehicles has intensified, and some enterprises and products have been eliminated and withdrawn.

In terms of favorable factors, first of all, the national consumption promotion policy is making efforts, the car purchase subsidy policy has been introduced in many places, and the purchase tax preferential policy has been extended. Secondly, with the continuous progress of electrified, intelligent and networked technology, the experience of new energy vehicle products has been further improved. Third, the market supply capacity is enhanced. It is expected that more than 100 new energy vehicles will be listed in China in 2023, and car companies will improve their ability to respond to diversified consumer demand.

CTOnews.com learned that Zhang Yongwei said that combining the above factors, it believes that the sales of new energy vehicles can achieve a growth of 30% and 40% in 2023, and China is expected to become the first country in the world to enter the era of annual sales of 10 million new energy vehicles.

In terms of assisted driving, in 2021, the penetration rate of China's new L2-class passenger cars reached 23.5%. The penetration rate rose to 32.4% in the first half of 2022, and it is expected that the penetration rate of L2-level and above intelligent network-connected vehicles will reach 80% in 2025.
